Intermodal terminal ČD-DUSS Terminál, a.s.
The intermodal terminal ČD-DUSS Terminál, a.s. is a public terminal for combined transport and shipping, located in the industrial area of northwestern Bohemia. This region has a strong flow of road freight transport towards Western Europe, along with a dense railway network.
From this perspective, the ČD-DUSS Terminál, a.s. serves as a hub for the collection and distribution of goods from surrounding industrial areas, with subsequent connection to railways and combined transport trains. The effort to shift road transport to rail has historical roots linked to the RO-LA project, which began its operations in Lovosice in 1994.
A new logistics center was established in 2006–2007 in direct connection with the Ro-La project and, nearly twenty years later, it continues to offer services in the transshipment of handling units between the aforementioned modes of transport — road and rail.
The center also includes logistics halls, where customers can take advantage of additional services such as transshipment and storage of goods, customs services, container packing for overseas shipping, or unloading of goods from sea containers, followed by consolidation, palletizing, packaging, and delivery to final destinations.
The idea of building a logistics center, along with the terminal’s ongoing plans in Lovosice, has always been and continues to be in line with the goals of European transport policy. It supports the shift of part of the freight volume from road to rail transport in the North Bohemian region, which is heavily burdened by road freight traffic.
